New York Times Feature!

We’ve been featured in the New York Times for a story on providing child care at weddings! Our Founder is honored to be among just a handful of agencies quoted for the NYT. She is also the first nanny agency owner of color featured in the NYT! This recognition is not just a personal win but a significant moment for all female business owners of color and our child care industry.

Tiesha has provided wedding care for dozens of families through babysitting agencies in Rhode Island and through our company, Peace of Mind Nannies. Weddings are the majority of the event care needs we support! In addition to our high volume of private in-home child care placements, Peace of Mind Nannies contracts with numerous families, event planners, and event venues to provide professional, onsite (or offsite) child care for weddings. We oversee everything from guest registration, space set-up and serving dinner to our popular developmentally-appropriate activities.

We can support as many or few kiddos needing child care. We’ve accommodated a small event needing care for 5 children. In 2021, Peace of Mind Nannies accommodated a two night wedding care job during a rehearsal dinner and at the wedding. We provided care for 15 kids at the dinner offsite in a hotel conference room and 30 during the wedding! At the wedding, the couple had a kids’ tent next to the reception where we set up games and activities. Each table had a different station of arts and crafts, games, and sensory fun with play-doh. Outside on the lawn, we had yard games of hula hoop, ring toss, and limbo. Event care jobs are so. much fun for the children, and especially our team!

For parents, finding a sitter on their own in a new town can be challenging. We understand that some parents may be hesitant to leave their children with someone they haven’t met. At Peace of Mind Nannies, our team are vetted and screened through a comprehensive process of an application, interviews, reference checks, and a comprehensive criminal background check. We share that information and more about our agency to wedding guests in advance so they can feel comfortable with our service.

We must extend a sincerest gratitude to Hilary Sheinbaum for interviewing us for this story, and to a dear friend for connecting us. Having a photo of me and the team included is truly that much more rewarding too! We wouldn't exist without our team of caregivers stepping up to do this vital work in raising children. We are so deeply grateful to every supporter, client, and friend who has been part of this journey. Your support has been instrumental in our success! Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.

Call us for your event care needs this holiday season and all year round!
